ACE Theatre understands that a trip to the concession stand shouldn't require a small business loan. So pull out your six-guns (or popcorn) and get ready for some rootin', tootin' good ole family fun at Puffabelly's Old Depot in Old Town Spring. It's time for The Diligent Daughter, ACE Theatre's Spring Melodrama!

Nellie and Naomi Nice are in search of their father who has disappeared. He must be found before midnight so they can claim their family inheritance from poor Aunt Hester’s estate. But if they fail, the entire estate goes to the Bilious Brewery.

Little do they realize that their father’s downfall has been caused by their false friend andfamily lawyer, Alfred Avarice, who secretly owns the Bilious Brewery.

In addition to their other problems, Nellie Nice must care for her sister Naomi, who has been struck down by grief at the loss by her father. The search for their father leads them to the Tippler Athletic Emporium, a saloon, which has been invaded by the Temperance Ladies during their quest. With the help of Peter Princely, they attempt to find their father and claim their rightful inheritance.

The villainous lawyer Alfred then decides to marry Naomi as well as claim the inheritance. Can he be stopped or will this be the first melodrama where the villain wins?

Now ya'll make sure you come on down early to enjoy preshow entertainment an hour before the play. You'll love to kick back and have one of Puffabelly's famous burgers or Chicken Fried steaks over a cold soda or beer. The restaurant wait staff will make sure that all your needs are satisfied while you enjoy the show.

Puffabelly's is located at 100 Main Street in old town spring. Exit I-45 at Spring Cypress Road and follow the signs to Old Town Spring. Spring Cypress turns into Main Street. Go to the the end until just before the railroad tracks. We'll be waitin' for ya!

Audition Information

Auditions for The Diligent Daughter will be on December 20th & 21st , 2009 at 7pm. They will be held in the Studio at ACE Theatre, 17011 Bamwood Dr., Houston, TX  77090.
